About VonKemp Designs
I don’t do buzzwords.
I don’t do corporate speak.
And I sure as hell don’t do “Why Choose Us” sections.
Here’s the truth instead:
I make stuff with stuff.
Wood. Resin. Metal. Whatever makes sense for the idea. Sometimes it’s a tap handle. Sometimes it’s a table. Sometimes it’s a puzzle box, a game, a sign, or something that didn’t exist before you walked into my shop with a half-formed idea and said, “So… what if?”
That’s kind of my thing.
I love woodworking — all of it. The planning, the problem-solving, the mistakes, the fixes, the figuring-it-out-as-you-go part. I love making tap handles for small breweries, building things that live on bar tops, making pieces people actually touch, use, and talk about. I love projects that don’t fit neatly into a category.
If you’ve got an idea and you’re not totally sure how to pull it off, that’s usually where the fun starts. We can sketch it, break it, rethink it, and build it right — together.
VonKemp Designs isn’t a factory. It’s not mass-produced. It’s not automated, outsourced, or pumped through a boardroom full of people who’ve never picked up a chisel. It’s one guy, a shop, a lot of sawdust, and about 26 years of burnout from the corporate IT world that finally got turned into something useful.
I love small businesses.
I love small breweries.
I love supporting my local community and neighbors when I can.
I hate politics.
I hate social media.
I hate corporate nonsense.
What I do care about is making solid, honest work that holds up, looks good, and feels right. Stuff you’re proud to put your name on. Stuff that doesn’t feel like it came out of a catalog.
If you’re looking for slick marketing language and empty promises, I’m probably not your guy.
If you’re looking for something custom, real, and built with intention — let’s talk.
Worst case? We drink a beer and kick around ideas.
Best case? We build something badass.
